Welcome
A warm welcome to all parents. As a parent in the school, you are automatically a member of the Parents’ Association.
Our Aims
Parents have an important part to play in making their child’s years in school a happy and positive experience.
The PA has several functions. These include: liaising with the school, fundraising, helping with large events and expertise for the school. We represent the interests and views of parents of children attending the school.
We aim to foster co-operation and promote good relationships among parents, the staff of the school and the Board of Management.
We assist with extra-curricular activities.
We help the school by running fundraising activities over the years, allowing us to help the school to buy equipment and resources.
Funds raised also go towards providing the nice ‘extras’ that the girls enjoy, such as treats and prizes at Christmas, and parties for special events.
The Parents’ Association is not a forum for complaint against either an individual teacher or parent. The Complaints Procedure is the mechanism for this.

Get Involved
After our AGM each September, a new committee is formed. We lose some of our committee members as their girls graduate, so we need new members every year.
We aim to have at least one parent from each class active within the Parents’ Association. This means we are in an ideal situation to communicate with the school on any issues that may arise.
To get involved either as a committtee member or as a helper, simply speak to any member of our committee or email us on mhocpa@gmail.com to find out about the next meeting. We meet once every six weeks.
Everyone can help! We need parents who can:
- Join working groups for new school policies.
- Make and serve tea.
- Move furniture and lift tables, etc. for parties.
- Help with websites.
- Sell raffle tickets.
- Meet with the school principal.
- Act as extra assistance for sports days and other outings.
- Help with the courtyard garden.
The list is endless – everyone can help in some way!
Parents’ Association Activities
We meet regularly with the school principal to discuss any issues and provide input into new policies or to review existing documents such as the Critical Incident Policy and the Code of Behaviour.
Special Occasions: We help mark the milestones in your child’s school life including their First Day at School, First Holy Communion and Graduation, with refreshments and parties.
School Events: We provide essential assistance for large events and refreshments for the girls at events such as Sports Day.
Fundraising: We try to keep a little fun in fundraising. We organise the Easter Raffle which is a huge event for the girls every year and leads to great excitement throughout the school. We hold seasonally themed fundraisers at Hallowe’en and Christmas.
Educational Talks: We organise information nights for parents on topical or relevant issues. Every year we invite a guest speaker to talk to parents. These have included representatives from the Cybersafe Ireland, As I Am and Anti-Bullying Presentations.
Uniform Lending Scheme: The school has a policy that girls make their Confirmation in their school uniform. We organise a free uniform lending scheme.
