NextGenerationEU Funding – Digital Divide Initiative

This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.

The funding was provided under Department of Education Circular 0060/2021 – Grant Scheme for EU NRRP Funding to Schools to Address the Digital Divide and Learners at Risk of Educational Disadvantage.

In line with the objectives and eligible expenditure outlined in Circular 0060/2021, this funding was used to enhance digital access and support inclusive teaching and learning within the school. The grant supported measures including:

  • The purchase of digital devices (tablets) to ensure that pupils who may not have access to appropriate technology can participate fully in digital learning.
  • The enhancement of school ICT infrastructure, including classroom digital display technologies (IWBs), charging facilities, and improved connectivity.
  • The development of digital teaching and learning practices, enabling staff and pupils to effectively engage with digital technologies as part of teaching, learning and assessment.

These investments support the Department of Education’s strategy to reduce the digital divide and ensure that all learners, particularly those at risk of educational disadvantage, have equitable access to digital learning opportunities.

Records of expenditure relating to this grant are maintained by the school in accordance with the requirements of Circular 0060/2021 and relevant public financial procedures
