Both Ms Glancy's and Ms O'Connor's 2nd classes enjoyed a day out to The National Gallery of Ireland to see a special exhibition of some of Picasso's artwork. This work has been borrowed from a museum in Paris and is only here in Ireland until the end of February. We were very lucky to get this trip and to have our own private guided tour. This was fantastic as our guides explained the art to us and told us so many things about Picasso. We saw paintings, sculptures, ceramics and videos of Picasso.
His favourite animal was the dove which in Spanish is "paloma" - he even named his daughter Paloma! And he created lots of doves. Imagine Picasso created over 50,000 pieces of art! He loved Cubism which is art where ordinary objects and people are shown very differently or in shapes!
In class we created our own Picasso inspired drawings of "The Girl with the Ponytail!"
